2:05 after he shakes it, she looks at it. FAKE

So what do you do if the person doesnt pick it up when you tell them to? Busted? lol

  3. by Trickywastaken, on March 24 2010 @ 5:34 am

It’s timed. I love how in this video he makes sure you can’t hear the music (chimes) while he preforms. If he would have did that in front of me I would have picked up on it right away… Disappointing. -.-

I downloaded an app like this.

The first trick was that the iPhone can tell which direction you tilt it as you pick it up popping up whatever number programmed to do so. Then it also works on how fast or slow you turn it.

How can someone be impressed by this toy? Get a life! Definitely not your usual standard, Prof Wiseman!

sorry. out of curiosity, i visited the website. apperently, no voice activation. My mistake.

  7. by FreekStyleSylabulls, on March 24 2010 @ 8:00 am

I still think its voice activation. you program in multiple things and it recognizes them all. The real test would be on an an touch with no headphones in. good app tho, well done

It can’t be the shaking. He doesn’t know the number until after he’s shaken it and it’s already on the table.

I have no idea how this works. Great job Richard.

    Easy… very easy… extremely easy…

@agenttaco91 Voice activation sounds easier. It just waits for the word “Drink” to show up and there you go.

Well, It picks up the voice like a voice command thing and displays that number.

  13. by andymc24, on March 24 2010 @ 12:42 pm

surely if it’s the iphone it just recognises the first option that somebody says outloud after its shaken.

I’m pretty sure it’s based on timing

  15. by jelly17000, on March 24 2010 @ 2:19 pm

    tapping

  16. by jelly17000, on March 24 2010 @ 2:22 pm

why go that far, what if its just the shaking?

  17. by pinoyrawr, on March 24 2010 @ 3:16 pm

    how does it work wtf

  18. by agenttaco91, on March 24 2010 @ 3:52 pm

Also, on the one that is four, they cut into the video of when the phone is already on the table, which makes it harder to identify the trick.

Heh, took me about 10 minutes, but I’ve got it… for sure.

Here’s the trick: The phone cycles through the numbers in intervals (my guess is about 10 seconds per number.) He wastes the correct amount of time until the phone is on the correct number, and times it right to pick it up. He knows when it’s chaning numbers by the sparkly sound that the phone makes. When it is two, he waits for the second sparkly sound. if she had chosen 3, he would have just had to waste more time.

Did anyone notice that when she guessed 2, she picked the iphone with 2 fingers? then she picked it up with 4 fingers when she though of 4…coincidence

  21. by Xarieus, on March 24 2010 @ 5:24 pm

So easy… Iphone has a camera and a microphone. The camera on the back sees your fingers and the microphone hears you say the number.

My guess from the video would be it’s just timing. The pretty much controls the point in time at which she turns it over. But it could be even simpler of course, but it’s hard to tell from a video. :)

    @eusmilus

Probably that’s it, but I note that the second time the hands are out of the picture so Richard could have pressed the volume control button to give information when he knew the choice if the default wasn’t it.

I’m a magician and just bought this after seeing the demo The secret is very elusive and undetectable!!! The app is a STEAL for $0.99! I will say this tho…its not voice activation because I have the ipod Touch, the girl in the demo is NOT a confederate (meaning she’s in on the trick),and last it has nothing to do with MOVEMENT. Trust me you will NEVER guess the secret…it its so slick and will take some practice! I tried it on my gf who is very skeptical and she can’t figure it out! A+ app!!

  25. by eusmilus, on March 24 2010 @ 6:59 pm

I’m guessing: it’s timing. Shaking starts timer. 4 options. 4 second wait before picking up the phone -> 1st option, 8 second wait ->second option and so on. Picking up stops going to the next option. And then fill the appropriate time with some conversation.
