Google voice only initiates the call with the internet if you choose to make calls via the web or use a app that does. but the actual call isn’t like a voip call (at least not without the proper software, *cough* skype, gizmo5) on a landlines or mobile always have to obey the providers contract. most landlines offer free calls to local numbers thats one way gv is free, but gv really advertises as free because gv actually doesn’t charge u, but ur provider may unless u have the proper set up.

The point of “Fav 5″ , “Pick 5″ , “IN” and “My Circle” is to allow you to make and receave phone calls from a ceratan amount of numbrs that will never use ur anytime mins, regardless of what network the person on your “list” is on. If you happen to have T-Mobile but not “Fav 5″ Then you are basically using ur anytime mins or nights&weekends depending on your plan and the time of day whenever you receive or make calls with your Google voice number.

What if you don’t have fav 5 on T-Mobile? How would that work?

Are you sure about the minutes topic? I was under the impression that if I make a call using Google Voice, it will not use any minutes due to the call in done through the internet vs. provider. However, when a person calls you or you call a phone in your same provider, you the person who is not using the Google Voice system, will be using provider minutes.

if you have sprint, put ur google voice number as one of ur “pick 3″ or “pick 5″ numbers. if you have t-moble set ur GV number as one of ur “fav 5″, if you have verizon set your GV number as one of ur “IN” numbers, and if u have att.. im not sure what they have thats similar… but set up whatever they have similar and that way everytime you make or receive a phone call its free. also tell whoever u talk to alot to set ur google number as one of theirs so its free for them too …
